A BRA FOR TRUE LOVE

With Valentine’s creeping up on us, the shops are stocked to the ceiling with heart shaped chocolates, bunches of overpriced roses and oversized cards to send to the one we love. While few invest too many emotions in the day itself, it acts as a time to express feelings of love to your significant other, to purchase them a gift because you can and you want to and you don’t care that you’re buying into an elaborate consumerist construction. After all, it’s fun to give, and it’s great to receive. But what about those people that are without a partner to wine and dine and inevitably sex up? What about all those lonely hearts? It’s a hard world out there and true love is hard to find.

But never fear. Forward thinking Japenese lingerie brand Ravijour has produced the most game-changing piece of technology since the Tamagotchi – a bra that pops open when you discover true love. Described by The Guardian as ‘a chastity belt for the social network age’, the bra remains locked for most of the time, acting as a barrier against all those men that simply want to get into a woman’s undergarments. However, as soon as your heart rate increases – supposedly registering true love – the bra pops open, saving both men and women the task of clumsily fumbling to undo that pesky clasp. According to its inventors the bra has been transformed from just a simple piece of clothing to ‘an instrument to test for true love … destined to become a friend of women around the world.’

However, seeing as the bra bursts open when your heart rate increases, I can’t help imagining it burst open inconveniently in the middle of a club, or when you’re late for class and have to rush up Stocker Road. But hey, if you’re looking for true love and want a mechanic bra to decide whether you’ve found it, check out this video and see what you think:
